Beyond Cancer: This Book Can Change Your Life

Beyond Cancer: This Book Can Change Your Life

Can a book change lives? Many books can. The information in this book saved the life of Sally Lipsky, and it may very well save the lives of her readers.

Imagine being diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. That’s what happened to Sally Lipsky ten years ago, and she vowed she would fight the cancer. Through extensive research, she discovered the power of plant-based nutrition and used food as medicine to heal herself.

Lipsky decided to make it her life’s work to communicate the benefits of plant-based nutrition. She says:

Like most cancer patients, I had little knowledge about the powerful link between food choices and cancer. Only after diagnosis did I begin learning about how certain foods can help prevent, fight, and even reverse various cancers.

Newly published by Wellness Ink, Beyond Cancer: The Powerful Effect of Plant-Based Eating has vital information that renewed Sally Lipsky’s health, and she is now thriving and spreading her message to the public.

Here is the interview with Lynda Goldman (book coach and publisher) and Sally Lipsky (author):

  1. What is your book about?

How to adopt a plant-based diet—so important for cancer survival and long-term health.

  1. What is the most important message you want your book to convey?

Plant-based eating helps maximize cancer survival and overall health, and is attainable for all.

  1. Why did you decide to write a book on this topic?

This vital information did not come from my physicians, nurses, hospital dietitians, or other health care practitioners. Nor did it come from often conflicting and confusing headlines in mass media.

I had to hunt for this information. I don’t want other cancer survivors to have to dig for the same information, so I wrote this book with cancer survivors and their caregivers, families, and friends in mind.

I’ve made presentations and taught classes on plant-based nutrition. As an enthusiastic yet practical advocate for plant-based eating, I’ve been told by others that I should write a book.

  1. How is your book different from other books on your topic?

The book does not just give information. Written from the viewpoint of both a cancer survivor and long-time educator, the book provides a step-by-step guide for instilling healthy eating habits.

It includes reflection and “try-it-out” activities, with a focus on practical, day-to-day strides toward adopting plant-based eating. Also, stories and suggestions from cancer survivors add a compelling and personal message.

  1. What did you find most enjoyable about writing your book?

Having the forum to express what I’ve learned and used in my careers as an educator and a plant-based nutrition advocate.

  1. What did you find most surprising about the process of writing a book?

The myriad resources needed to finish a quality book.

  1. What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

The process of collaborating with an interior designer. It required much detailed reading, correcting, and rereading—as well as patience—to get the “kinks” out of the pages. This is especially true for a complex interior design with tables. To overcome frustrations, I reminded myself that I was almost done with the process.

  1. How will your book help you build your business or practice?

The book will provide me with a sense of authority as I expand speaking and educational opportunities.

  1. How are you planning to market your book to reach the right audience?

Speaking engagements at local libraries, bookstores, community centers, women’s organizations, cancer support groups, and adult education classes are on my plan. I’ll be contacting local media and national vegan/plant-based nutrition organizations, and doing social media to connect with groups advocating for plant-based nutrition.
